creator: the ultimate gift guide for your artist friend.

i've always been artsy, and so of course, people will get me art supplies. and most of the time, well, i don't really want what they give me :I which isn't their fault, because how are they supposed to know what i want if i don't tell them? but i thought it'd be awesome to make a list of the best options that you can give your artsy friend--that they'll actually like :)

as a rule of thumb, the more personalized to them: based on what they ~actually~ want, the better!!. always ask more than guess !!

here's the roundup:

. find their pinterest & make them something from it

most artsy people love pinterest :) if you don't have theirs, just ask for it. browse and see if you can find something that you think you could make. for example, they might have a folder full of art projects, where you could find something to make. or, you could buy them something from their outfits folder. maybe they love hairstyling, and have a bunch of bows in their pins! get them one of those. at the very least, their pinterest should give you lots of specific ideas of things they like :)

. ASK them what art supplies they wish they could have & get one

usually there's something they want but don't want to spend the money on, and they would be more than thrilled if you got it for them!

. white gel pens (gelly roll ten are my favorite!)

if you want to get them legit art supplies, white gel pens are so fun. they work for so many hobbies and medias, and are just something different! the gelly roll tens are my personal favorite, i use them to fix mistakes, draw on black paper, bullet journal, & more!

. if they do a lot of 2d art, go thrifting and get some beautiful antique frames

i always have a lot of art that's not framed because i'm too lazy to get a frame, and sometimes frames are weirdly expensive or cheap-looking :I if that sounds like your friend, then go to a thrift store and buy some vintage frames :) and maybe also a print from one of their favorite artists (just ask!)

. get them a patreon subscription to their favorite artist or content creator

creative people need inspiration from other artists! there's a good chance your friend has a favorite artist or creator online. most creators have shops, patreons, or other paid channels, and what a fun way to support two artists at once :)

. a date to a painting or ceramics place :)

i always see people going to these cute ceramics places, and i want to go so bad! if your friend loves painting or ceramics, or is just artsy in general, i bet they would love doing it with you! then they can create something and have quality time <3

. gift card to an art shop, hobby lobby, etc

if you don't want to ask them what they want, give them money to a place they like! my friend did this for me, and it was so fun! combines gift cards and art.

. if you yourself love art, make them something! esp smth that represents them

if someone drew me, or created something with my vibe, just for me, i would be actually so blown away. if you love art too, make them something!

. an art date to a museum or place they want to visit!

art museums and traveling in general is so much fun for anyone, but especially if you love taking aesthetic pictures and getting inspiration for your own art! ask them if there's a museum or place they've been wanting to go :)

. ask them which pieces they wish they had printed, & go have them printed at a print shop

this goes along with the frame one! imagine doing them both together! for your digital art friends !! this would be so precious

and that's a wrap! i hope this list was helpful, and gave you loads of ideas :) let me know if i should do more gift guides in the future :D

see you soon,

xo kate
