i don't have to, i get to.

hey friends! i hope you have had a lovely week & happy april! lately as school continues to grind, it gets hard to maintain a positive attitude, so i've been thinking a lot about mindset & i hope this post helps you this week :)

not that i am speaking of being in need, for i have learned, in whatever situation i am, to be content. i know how to be brought low, and i know how to abound. in any and every circumstance, i have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (philippians 4:11–13)

i hope you're heard of the classic mindset of replacing "i have to" with "i get to"... and i want to share some that have been on my mind lately. feel free to add some of yours in the comments!

. . . . .

i have to get through this day of school

i get to learn and grow at school today

i have to go to bed early

i want to go bed early & i get to sleep well

i have to drive so far to get places

i have a car i can drive to travel

i have to eat healthy

i want to fuel my body & feel good

i have to do so much homework

i have the time to master what i’m learning

i have to be nice to someone i don't really like

i get to help someone feel loved

i have to work today

i get to make money doing something i love

i have to do laundry & dishes

i have a laundry machine & dishwasher in my house

i have to workout

i have an body that moves without help

i have to pray more

i want to praise the Lord & talk with Him

i have to do better because i'm not doing good enough

i’m doing the best i can & nothing i do will change my worth to God <3

. . . . .

the last one is a topic i've been thinking about a lot and was articulated beautifully by tamara runia in her talk. i also loved patrick kearon's message about your worth as a child of God.

you are loved. God is good. life is a gift.
