hey y'all !
let me welcome you to my podcast!!
don't worry, it's super low-key and i kind of have no idea what i'm doing :)
but it is AWESOME and you might love it <3
so basically, i started it for a school assignment, but kept doing it because i love hearing people's stories. that's why i did my magazine -- there are so many people i know who have the most interesting life experiences, stories, and knowledge, and i would hate to miss hearing those precious parts of their lives.
there's just so much to learn from others.
i also love how candid podcasts are.
to hear someone's voice and how they talk really connects you to them and makes their stories come alive. you don't judge them off what they look like, or what they wear. you just get to hear from their heart. kinda cool, isn't it?
here's the view of the podcast on spotify :) i have to give credit to my first interviewee, mr. troxel, for the name. i was thinking something like "words of wisdom" and he was like "a waterfall of wisdom" and of course that was perfect !!
soooooo let's talk about who's been on the podcast, as well as some behind the scenes from my end :D
ep one: the og baby episode :)
{ recorded in his classroom }
i talked with one of my most favorite teachers about his experience as a social studies teacher, head football coach, and father. he has so much wisdom to share, and i was just proud of not messing up my words as much as i thought i would :)
if you're into education, being a mentor, coach, or just influential person in general, definitely give this one a listen!
ep two: there might be background children's noises
{ recorded in a spanish airbnb sitting on a bunk bed }
my episode description sums it all up pretty nicely: "such a precious episode where i talk with my cute grandma about her life, being a senior missionary, humanitarian work, & how to help others feel loved. she is truly such a light & you will learn so much from her ♡"
if you want to be more loving this year, push play on this ep :)
ep three: talking with my boss in packshed
{ recorded in the farm packshed after work }
i
worked on an organic farm this summer, and i worked side-by-side with my boss, rufus, for a good number of hours. i learned a lot from him, about gardening, but also just about running a farm, his life story, and that he likes to listen to podcasts, too!
if you want to learn what a CSA is, or what it's like to be a farmer, check out this ep for sure.
ep four: the irony of it all
{ recorded outside at dusk }
most of you know i'm such a health nerd, and so anytime i find anyone who is into holistic health, i go crazy :). for example, at dinner one time i talked to kaelena about health stuff for the whole entire time, so i knew i had to share her knowledge with you all! she has a bachelor's in exercise and wellness, along with other certifications.
why was it ironic? because i had a headache and was so tired when we were recording! welp. otherwise, it would have probably been like an hour long AT LEAST :))
if you want to improve your health this year, listen to this knowledge bomb!!
ep five: my personal favorite (educationally for me)
{ recorded in my aunt's car in tennessee }
wins for the longest title :) my aunt morgan, is a slp and this episode was SO fascinating to me. i can't even tell you exactly why but i just loved recording it so much.
if you want to learn about speech, or become a slp, or help your kids or ppl with their speech, or just learn cool stuff, don't skip this one!
ep six: after hours
{ recorded at a bank }
as the cross country manager this past season, i really wanted to have our head coach on the podcast. the pod was short and sweet and he shared a great insight about coaching that all coaches should know.
if you want to hear about being a financial advisor or anything coaching and running, this one is for you!
🥳 ... annndddd that's a wrap on the 2023 season! i loved it. the podcast was such a casual creative outlet for me, which was perfect in a year of burnout! having something with no pressure or expectations really helped me find some of my creative energy again, and reminded me how much i love interviewing people! <3
don't worry though, i'm so excited for 2024!
why? i'm specifying the theme of the podcast :)
here's the context:
as a junior in high school, or even before, everyone starts asking you what you’re thinking for post-high school. it’s hard to say “i don't know” bc you want to know. you want to have your whole life planned out. is that even realistic, though? there are truly so many jobs and life paths out there, so how can you even pick if you don't know all your options?
2024 episodes will be focused on careers: exploring all sorts of life paths and job options! i'm excited to go into the community and find service workers, conventional jobs in healthcare, education, finance, as well as different self-employed careers. please comment down below any ideas you might have for me! i am currently still on the lookout :)
🦋 you can look forward to a new episode every month, plus maybe a few bonus eps in there :) i don't want the pod to become totally career-themed, so there will still be life experience, advice, and everything else i love to include.
