merry christmas! we just watched the Christ child, which might be my favorite video ever. it is a beautiful film about the birth of Jesus, and it brings such a special spirit.

this month, i've been thinking about christmas and who we are celebrating. watching this video brought a few thoughts, and i wanted to share.

Jesus is the King of Kings: the wise men worshipped Him, and yet, He came as the lowest of lows: to young parents with little status, wealth, knowledge, or experience. but they had faith, and welcomed Him to earth in the humblest of places: away from home, in a stable, with his bed a manger, where the animals ate. the most powerful Lord came as no one, yet the truly wise knew enough to travel far to fall down on their knees before Him. unlike the shepherds, they didn't have an angel appear to them. instead, they knew from prophesy that the new star was the sign. they came because of their faith. the spirit must have convicted them to see who that little boy really was: the Messiah, the Savior, their King. what a beautiful representation of who Jesus is: He is over all because He has known all. there could be no better Redeemer than He.

as we read in alma 7:11-12, “He shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith He will take upon Him the pains and the sicknesses of His people. and He will take upon Him death, that He may loose the bands of death which bind His people; and He will take upon Him their infirmities, that His bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that He may know according to the flesh how to succor His people according to their infirmities. now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that He might take upon Him the sins of His people, that He might blot out their transgressions according to the power of His deliverance.”

this christmas and always, i am grateful to celebrate and worship a Savior who understands both our lives here on earth and everything beyond. i have peace knowing who i trust: Jesus, who loves every single one of us.

xoxo, kate

I love your thoughts! The part in the video with the wise men is so sweet. And I love that verse in Alma: “He will take upon Him their infirmities, that His bowels may be filled with mercy.” So grateful for His mercy.
