i was going to write a post about one specific thought, but i couldn't pick. so here's a list of things i learned from girl's camp this year! for those who don't know, girl's camp is an overnight camp run by local leaders of my church. we do scripture study, devotionals, activities like fishing, calligraphy, archery, games, & campfires. this was my fourth time going! each time it's been different: i've been struggling with different things, it's been run by different people, and at different locations, etc. but each time, i feel my faith grow. i always feel so loved & at peace.
so anyways, i wrote down a bunch of thoughts i had & lessons i learned from camp this year. some might not make sense to you, depending on your experience with my faith :) if you have any questions, comment or text me! i would love to explain anything confusing, esp since this is quite a jumble ◡̈ & like always, i hope something resonates.
your example teaches more than any lesson
“if you think swimming is dumb, what are your girls going to think is dumb? swimming!” whatever you think is dumb, your girls will too. - katie
know your strengths & hone in on them!! this makes you stronger, more successful, better working with others, more helpful, and more aware
make a list of things you’ve seen in good leaders & make goals to emulate that in yourself
being filled with the spirit = joy
why baptism? covenants = power, so the more the better etc + physical act helps you remember
part of love & service is accepting service
no one is too “below you” to be served (think about Christ)
alma 7&12: Christ can help us have mercy for others who we don’t understand bc He understands them
“spiritual worth means to value ourselves the way Heavenly Father values us. when we feel the spirit, we recognize what we feel comes from Heavenly Father.” - joy d jones: basically feeling the spirit can testify to us of our divine worth and value as well as the value of others
when you know God, life becomes more beautiful
i want to make the baptismal promises more of a study, priority & goal in my life this year
hil: Christ can help you find joy in your metaphorical prison (phil 4:13)
speed < direction of change
the crowning act of love: forgiveness
Christ = relief: we don’t have to be weighed down! we can give our burdens to Him & He will walk with us 🔗 strength walk & dumping rocks @ Christ’s feet
if Christ came to me now in this moment, what would He say?
i looked in the mirror, tired & reflective, and had this thought: “when i say i can’t, Christ seems to hug me and say ‘with Me, you can.’”
IN OUR HARDEST TIMES, WE NEED TO WORK THE HARDEST -miriam
fruits of the spirit testify of truth (katie): when we feel a fruit of the spirit, we can know that whatever is happening or being said is true !!
“every single person is a window to heaven”
kate j: “i know that this is Jesus’ church.”
miriam: Christ was lonely too: last words: “why hast Thou forsaken me?” <3
